Dubai Airports celebrates Chinese New Year with a bang (of a drum)

DXB – Thursday, 15 February 2018 – Dubai Airports celebrated Chinese New Year with thousands of passengers passing through Dubai International’s Terminal 3 and Terminal 1. Welcoming the Year of the Dog, which officially starts on Friday 16 February, all week passengers at DXB were treated to rousing performances by artists from Dubai Parks and Resorts’ outstanding entertainment team including a roaming lion dancer, a Chinese face changer and traditional Chinese dancers. In addition, both terminals operated dedicated immigration lanes for passengers and those leaving Dubai on China Southern, Cathay Pacific and Air China flights were presented with gifts and vouchers for use in the airport.

China (including Hong Kong) was one of the most significant growth markets for DXB in 2017, generating more than 3.3m passengers. This marked increase of 15.9% compared to 2016, was attributed to the relaxation of visa regulations by the UAE to offer visa on arrival for Chinese visitors.
