Dubai Airports CEO lauded for achievements at DXB

Dubai, UAE – May 22, 2012 – Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths was yesterday awarded the Serco Global Pulse Customer Award in recognition for his work in building Dubai International into one of the world’s leading air transport hubs.
Chris Hyman, Chief Executive of Serco Group plc said: “Serco’s Pulse Awards recognise the incredible achievements of Serco’s people, our customers and partners. Under the leadership of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports and President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Paul Griffiths has been the driving force behind the remarkable achievement of Dubai International.
As chief executive he has been responsible for realising Dubai’s vision of creating a vital air transport hub and a world class organisation providing the highest standards of quality service. I am delighted that Serco has been part of this success providing air traffic services at the airport for more than 40 years and delighted to recognise these achievements by awarding Paul the Pulse Global Customer Award.”
Serco provides essential services to companies and governments, including Dubai Airports, in sectors as diverse as health, education, transport, science and defence. The candidates for the award are nominated by Serco’s senior executives from around the globe who are then assessed by a senior external judging panel.
“It is a great honour to be recognised in this way and is testament to all the hard work and effort the entire Dubai Airports team have put into building Dubai International into the global hub it is today. However, this is just the beginning as we embark on a new journey. The SP2020 project, our expansion plan for Dubai International, is still in its infancy and will test our mettle as we begin to develop close to $8bn worth of new infrastructure,” said Griffiths.
Since joining Dubai Airports in 2007, Griffiths has worked tirelessly to support the expansion of Emirates airline and deliver a liberal open skies policy at an airport that now handles over 51 million passengers a year. Under his leadership, Dubai Airports executed the flawless launch of Terminal 3 in 2008 and Dubai World Central, Dubai’s second airport, in June 2010.
