Dubai Airports sweeps the board at the 2019 FAB Awards

DUBAI, UAE - July 3, 2019: DXB claimed great success at the eighth annual Airport Food and Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards, held recently in Dallas, Texas and organised by The Moodie Davitt Report, with its restaurants, cafes and bars bringing home 11 of the industry honours. The globally recognised awards were presented following decisions made by a panel of expert industry judges.

In February of this year, Dubai Airports launched DXB as a brand, vowing to transform the customer experience and take the 90million passengers per year at the world’s busiest international airport in a new and exciting direction by creating a destination within a destination. The honours presented at FAB 2019 came as huge recognition of the efforts already made by Dubai Airports and its partners, working across all three of the airport’s terminals, at the start of this journey.

Specific recognition of this transformation was given to DXB’s Concourse B, which was highly commended as “Airport Food & Beverage Offer of the Year”. The judges noting the innovative changes being made to the restaurant and café offerings, the need to satisfy a hugely cosmopolitan audience and instil a sense of place for those travelling through and not stopping in the vibrant emirate of Dubai.

The changes at DXB are being supported by commercial partners, who were recognised at the gala event in Texas. Described by the awards founders, Moodie-Davitt, as “brilliantly innovative and creative”, HWH collected eight of the prestigious industry awards, with global outright wins in the categories of “Airport ‘Food to Go’ of the Year” (Flour and Stone), and “Airport Food & Beverage Offer Best Reflecting Sense of Place” (S34), and then highly commended or best in the region in six other competitive categories.

Another key DXB partner, Lagardère Travel Retail, took home the award for “Airport Food Hall of the Year” for its novel take on a combined dining experience, The Daily DXB. One restaurant area which incorporates five different dining options around fun, central, picnic style tables allowing groups and families to select different meals, but eat together.

Long-standing partner, Emirates Leisure Retail (ELR) was also acknowledged at the awards being honoured with regional award for “Airport Bar of the Year” for its Concourse D bar and restaurant, The Draft House.
