Dubai Airports’ ‘towering’ cancer awareness campaign wins at Daman Corporate Health Awards

Dubai Airports’ cancer awareness campaign has won the Editor’s Award for Inspiration at the Daman Corporate Health Awards that were organised in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday evening.

As part of the campaign titled Early Detection Saves Lives! Dubai Airports unveiled in February the world’s largest cancer awareness ribbon on an air traffic control tower at Dubai International. The massive ribbon, made in 24 colours to represent all types of Cancer – measures 128 feet in length and 60 feet across, and spans nearly the entire height of the ATC tower. Visible to passengers arriving or departing from Dubai International as well as the residents of the city, the ribbon continues to attract attention and create curiosity.

Launched under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports, the campaign offered free check-ups for all airport employees at facilities at Terminals 1 and 3.

“We are thrilled to win this award because it will add to the popularity of our campaign and hopefully increase awareness on cancer and the importance of early detection in defeating the disease and ensuring a happier life,” said Meshari Al Bannai, Vice President of Human Resources at Dubai Airports.

The inaugural Daman Corporate Health Awards bestowed recognition on top UAE employers committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and providing exemplary work environments for their employees.
