It’s the most wonderful time of the year… so why not enjoy it!

Dubai, UAE – December 13, 2018: The holidays are coming, and the message is unified… get to the airport early and enjoy all that is on offer.

It’s widely recognised that holiday periods make for busy roads and busy airports. In fact, over the next two weekends Dubai International (DXB) will be buzzing with more than 1.6m people travelling for the festive season. What isn’t always widely understood is that time spent at DXB during the holiday season presents a great opportunity to take advantage of all the tastes, sights, sounds and experiences the world’s leading international airport has on offer.

“We have been gearing up for this period for some time and have a few surprises in store for our customers,” said Anita Mehra, SVP, Communication & Reputation at Dubai Airports. “We now have some outstanding new dining and lifestyle concepts that delight customers, particularly families, with uplifting experiences, including brands such as Hard Rock Café, Nutella, Treehouse, Daily DXB and Candylicious among others. Aside from these, the airport will feature a festive atmosphere with the now-famous Swarovski tree and live music including buskers and choral performances. Santa will be paying a visit and we have other pop-up activations in store that will delight children and adults alike.”

The peak of the busy travel period is predicted to be the weekend of Thursday 20, Friday 21 and Saturday 22 December with up to 280,000 customers travelling through DXB per day. Just after the schools break up for the winter holidays, another peak is anticipated starting this Thursday 13 through to Saturday 16 with DXB expected to see more than 250,000 customers pass through its doors per day across the three terminals.

“DXB is ready with extra staff on hand, with more smart gates than ever before to help customers speed through immigration, and with a new operations control centre powered by cutting-edge technology that allows us to use real time data to better manage passenger flows,” added Frank McCrorie, SVP, Operations at DXB.

So, if you’re flying out this weekend or next, get to the airport early and enjoy!
